"Papa-san, will you pass the cookies to Tanuki Bear?"
"Of course." Kirin's voice paused. "Will you have two cookies or three, Tanuki-san?"
"He will have only one, Papa-san," Usagi said imperiously. "Tanuki Bear is too fat!"
Her curiosity piqued, Ariana crept to the shuttered windows and peeped in. Kirin was sitting almost folded double as he sat cross-legged at a low table while their daughter presided over a tea party consisting of several dolls and stuffed animals. He poked the blue bear in question with one finger.
"Oh, yes," Kirin said somberly. "You need to take him to the dojo and give him a proper workout."
"You may have his other cookies instead."
"Domo arigato, Usa-chan! You're very kind."
Ariana fled to the safety of the outer courtyard before her giggles could give her away.
==================
Somewhere off camera, Ariana is having a BIG laugh about this. *L* I wrote this snippet a couple of weeks ago and thought that it went well with the rough sketch that I had in Scraps so I decided to combine the two.
Which is why Tanuki-Bear is missing.
(Probably off in a snit because Kirin's eating his cookies.)
I saw the rough cut on this one, but didn't realize how it would turn out until now... you get better and better every time you draw Kirin and his little family, Spike!
Expressions on both characters are wonderful, and I love the little touches all around on this one -- the rabbits on the tea set, the designs on their kimonos and the fact their tails are touching (awww, such a nice gesture between pappa-san and usa-chan!) -- and the colors are superb!
This is by far one of your best pieces, and the best Father's Day piece you've ever done! Congrats!

Bugs : "Er, um . . . a Hare-um. I t'ink?"
[Smokey the Genie pops out, looks in the door quickly, amid more shrieks, then grins at Bugs]
Smokey : "Oh, THAT was a harem, alright! I know a harem when I see one!"

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

You're only young once, but you can be immature forever!
If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Only she who attempts the absurd
can do the impossible...
And Kirin is very handsome in this pic. More that that, he brushed his hair this time.
