I recently picked up a new RPG client that I'm doing illustrations for -- lots of character sketches mostly, maybe a few scenes. Some things I nail right off, others are taking taking a while. Here is a rejected character sketch for a Minotaur. *sighs* The text clearly states that they most commonly wear 'leather tunics and kilts' but the editor wants Roman armor. (Which is perplexing because previous artists have done minotaurs in English knight armor... go fig.)

Oh, well.... that's why they're called pencil roughs.....

Wow, great! But why Roman armour? Greek would be better... (In spite of the fact, that he looks great in kilt)

Ugh, mebbe he wants something that hints towards the Greek Myths about the Minotaur in the maze and stuff. I think it looks lovely! I seldome like minotaur doodiles but you pulled it off quite nicely! :g

Why Roman armor? Beats me.... but what the editor wants is what the editor gets. Otherwise I don't get paid.

Then he (editor) would ask for Greek armor, not Roman, wouldn't he? Or the stereotype of Some-Stupid-American-People-Who-Don't-Se e-Any-Difference-Between-European-Cultur es-No-Matter-Modern-Or-Ancient is true?

I guess they were thinking of the greek story of the minotar...maybe that's why...but it's a great pic! I love the kilt!
