Since I'm doing this Art merit badge course, I thought it might be good to have some 'normal' art to show the boys. When I was teaching, I would tell my students that in order to draw unnatural things, you had to start by drawing things from real life.
Technically speaking, I drew this from a photo in Birds & Blooms but have you ever tried to get an owl to pose for a portrait? Damned irritating the way they can swivel their heads around like that..... Cretacolor Aquamonolith pencils on Strathmore art paper (brown Bristol board) |

We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on.
